Saluting Derrek Bock

Happy EMS Week to all our wonderful EMS Partners. Working with the best!

Today we are saluting Derrek Bockholt, HALO-Flight Paramedic.

Like most of the HALO-Flight Team, Derrek has over two decades of service as an EMS Professional earning a Paramedic Certification in 1998, and starting his 911 career in Kleberg County. A few years later he “upgraded” his professional skills and earned his AAS Paramedic credential in 2004.

A native of Premont, Derrek graduated from Calallen High School, served his country in the United States Marine Corps, earned his Journeyman Electrician License, studied art and design in college, and has worked as both a professional and volunteer fire fighter.

His focus on education has been an asset to HALO-Flight through out his tenure including work as a founding member of the HALO-Flight Education Program, multiple instructor cards and is still a current EMS Instructor.

Memorable moments are frequent for EMS Professionals and Derrek shared one of his. “A man brought over his five-year-old boy to see the helicopter, and the little boy said, ‘thank you for saving my mommy.’ We had transported her three months prior for major injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash.”

Thanks Derrek for all you do to improve care for our patients and South Texans. WE SALUTE YOU!
