Saluting Kara Bockholt

Happy EMS Week to all our wonderful EMS Partners. Working with the best!

Today we are saluting Kara Bockholt, Certified Flight Communicator, Advanced Communication Specialist, EMT-B, CNA and HALO-Flight Operations Control Specialist.

Kara worked in healthcare several years prior to joining the HALO-Flight Team, utilizing her specialized training as a Certified Nursing Assistant at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital – Shoreline. Currently she is also working in that capacity at Driscoll Children’s Hospital (since 2015).

She joined the HALO-Flight Team in 2014, and works in the vital role of OCS taking calls from 911 Centers, law enforcement officers, physicians and hospitals who have critical patients that need the prompt air medical services provided by HALO-Flight.

“My role,” explains Kara, “is one of first to hear and last to know – about the patients I advocate for. My work environment frequently involves multiple and simultaneous calls and agencies, utilizing more than one air craft at a time. As an OCS, we are always monitoring the service, hearing what is going on, and then, we get to see the crews arriving to provide care and transport for our patients. This cycle of service is always a reward of its own.”
