Saluting Rickey McLester
Happy EMS Week to all our wonderful EMS Partners. Working with the best!
Today we salute Rickey McLester, HALO-Flight Director of the Operational Control Center.
While Rickey has served at HALO-Flight since February 2009, he has also assumed community First Responder duties with the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. Currently, he is leading that effort as the Fire Chief.
His educational background as an EMS Professional is lengthy. He is an EMT-B, an AHA BLS Instructor, Certified Flight Communicator, Operational Control Specialist, Advanced Telecommunicator and a EMS Instructor. He is also a Board Member of the International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists.
At HALO-Flight, not only does Rickey lead the OCC Team, he is the facilities liaison for three HALO-Flight locations, directs IT initiatives including hardware and software needs of the organization.
As a First Responder, Rickey recalls the feelings of helplessness and overwhelming fear as he walked out of the Fire Station right after Hurricane Harvey, adding, "but knowing that this is what you have trained for and that it is time to go to work for your community and your organization,I knew clearly that helping your fellow man is what it is all about."
Thanks Rickey for all you do to improve care for our patients and South Texans. WE SALUTE YOU!
