South Texas' Nonprofit Air Ambulance
Operating Fleet
Soaring to Save Lives

The fleet is at the heart of HALO-Flight’s mission, taking us anywhere across South Texas, any time we get the call. We operate five Bell helicopters, including models 407GXi and 407GX Analog and Legacy, each customized to function as a compact mobile ICU. These helicopters are specifically configured to meet the needs of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), ensuring advanced medical care is provided during critical moments.

24/7 Operating Fleet

Our operations run 24/7 with two fleets—one based in Alice and the other in Beeville. These fleets are supported by spare aircraft at our Corpus Christi headquarters where maintenance, dispatch, communications and administrative functions are managed full-time.

Dedicated to Driscoll

The last 407GXi model in our fleet is dedicated solely to patient transfers for Driscoll Children’s Hospital, playing a crucial role in our partnership with the world-class hospital.

Fleet Maintenance

With safety as a top priority, our strong maintenance program plays a key role in HALO-Flights’ proven record. Our skilled maintenance team performs both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance at our 3,000 square-foot hangar in Corpus Christi, making it possible to consistently ensure aircraft excellence.

Our aircraft maintenance technicians hold an A&P Certification, which stands for "Airframe & Powerplant." The Airframe certification allows them to work on the structure of the aircraft, while the Powerplant certification covers the engine. With a combined experience of over 120 years, our team brings an unparalleled level of expertise that is rare in a smaller organization. Whether it's routine or unscheduled maintenance, diagnostics or safety reporting, all tasks are performed with urgency and in strict adherence to FAA regulations.
Also known as scheduled or preventative maintenance, the routine maintenance on our fleet is similar to regular vehicle service. It typically begins with 50-hour inspections and extends to major inspections at 5,000 hours, ensuring long-term reliability and safety.
When our fleet needs attention, the maintenance team swings into action. Pilots perform pre-flight checks at the start of each shift or before any mission. If a malfunction is identified during these checks, the aircraft is grounded until the issue is repaired and deemed airworthy and safe for launch.
