HALO-Flight Completes Their Modernized Fleet, Ensuring Safe Air Medical Transport to South Texas and Beyond

Posted on: November 19, 2025

HALO-Flight, South Texas’ nonprofit emergency air ambulance service, hosted a ribbon-cutting and blessing ceremony today at its Alice Base to formally introduce N665HF — the final aircraft in its strategic fleet modernization plan.

With this milestone, HALO-Flight completes a five-year transformation that strengthens its role as a regional leader in lifesaving air medical transport. The organization is the first air medical provider to purchase the single-engine, IFR-capable Bell 407GXi, and the first in the industry to install the Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) across its fleet—reinforcing reliability, safety, and mission readiness for the communities it serves.

For nearly four decades, HALO-Flight has partnered with local and rural healthcare providers and first responders to deliver rapid, high-quality critical care transport. More than 26,000 patients and families have benefited from its services, underscoring the nonprofit’s enduring commitment to ensuring help is always available when the call comes.

The decision to transition to an all–Bell 407GXi fleet was driven by a focus on operational efficiency and consistent, high-quality care across both 24/7 base locations. IFR capability and HUMS technology—funded through generous community support—equip pilots and medical crews with advanced tools to ensure safe transport in challenging conditions.

“This ribbon-cutting marks the end of a pivotal five-year commitment to safety—and the beginning of a new one,” said Travis Patterson, CEO of HALO-Flight. “The IFR and HUMS capabilities represent the highest standard of airborne care, ensuring we are always mission-ready for our community. We cannot thank our generous friends, donors, and partners enough for standing with us. It is your continuous support that allows us not only to serve South Texas, but to grow stronger with it.”

The ceremony featured a special blessing of the aircraft by CHRISTUS chaplains and was joined by key community partners, first responders, and civic leaders from South Texas and surrounding areas.
