South Texas' Nonprofit Air Ambulance
HALO-Flight, South Texas' nonprofit emergency air ambulance service, today announced the official launch of the "Building to New Heights" capital campaign, confirming that construction has officially begun on its new administrative headquarters in Corpus Christi.
The organization had recognized the need for a new building for at least seven years, but the project was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the prioritization of standardizing the air fleet. The campaign was officially launched in 2025 after the organization was blessed with a large, generous anonymous donation that provided the initial funding to move forward.
The new, two-story, 13,000 square-foot facility will replace the organization’s current administrative offices, which have been housed within a retrofitted section of the maintenance hangar for two decades. While the team has successfully made this arrangement work, the facility represents a long-overdue update to the organization's humble beginnings, with completion anticipated by the end of 2026.
“For two decades, our critical operations were squeezed into a corner of our maintenance hangar. Seeing the physical construction begin is an incredible testament to the dedication of our supporters and partners,” said Travis Patterson, CEO of HALO-Flight. “This new facility will provide the infrastructure necessary for flawless execution, advanced safety training, and rapid response. It ensures that the cutting-edge technology of our modernized fleet is supported by an equally state-of-the-art operation control center, solidifying our mission readiness for the community for decades to come.”
The new ADA compliant headquarters, currently under construction in Corpus Christi, will significantly enhance HALO-Flight's operational capability across the region. The centralized design is intended to foster organizational synergy and peak efficiency, featuring a state-of-the-art Operation Control Center (OCC), specialized medical crew training facilities, administrative offices, and hangar space for up to three aircraft, supported by an additional helipad. This unified approach ensures superior operational oversight and reduced response times, directly benefiting the South Texas community by maintaining the highest standard of safety. The total fundraising goal for the "Building to New Heights" campaign is $6.5 million to complete the project.
