At HALO-Flight, we believe that exceptional care starts with exceptional training. Our pilots and medical teams go beyond standard protocols to ensure the highest levels of safety. This commitment reflects our deep care for the communities we serve, knowing that every moment matters when lives are on the line. For us, training isn't just about meeting requirements—it's about going the extra mile to make a real difference.
HALO Flight pilots are highly experienced and deeply committed to excellence. Each pilot undergoes a rigorous evaluation process, including assessments of skill, decision-making and adherence to core values. They receive first-rate internal training as well as some external training at the Bell Training Academy in some instances.
In addition, our pilots receive ongoing education, including Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) training, which enables our pilots to fly safely in marginal or challenging weather. All pilots undergo flight and knowledge evaluations annually, with IFR pilots completing two evaluations per year, to maintain currency and demonstrate competence.
Our medical crews maintain a variety of annual certifications, including BLS, ACLS and PALS from the American Heart Association, alongside neonatal resuscitation and trauma courses from nationally accredited organizations. Hands-on training in Simulation Laboratories (SIM Labs), offered through a partnership with Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi's College of Nursing and Health Sciences, ensures our staff constantly improves their clinical performance and patient care.
Annually, all flight nurses and paramedics attend the Centre of Emergency Health Sciences in Spring Branch, TX. This nationally recognized lab provides invaluable hands-on training and skills practice. This unique, Critical Care Skills program was specifically designed to target high value, low frequency, life-saving skills for the emergecny medical professionals in the ultimate training environment.
Additionally, HALO-Flight has partnered with FlightBridgeED to provide 24/7 access to critical care education, certification and license tracking, and tailored courses for ongoing professional development.
