Saluting Cathy Kelley
Happy EMS Week to all our wonderful EMS Partners. Working with the best!
Today we are saluting Cathy Kelley, MSN, RN, CEN, EMT.
Cathy's love of EMS work started while she was simultaneously pursuing her nursing degree and volunteering at her hometown EMS Station in Mamaroneck, New York, where she obtained her EMT license.
A veteran EMS Professional with 22 years experience, Cathy recalls working along side trauma nurses and paramedics with a hospital-based air medical service during her clinical rotation at Westchester Medical Center. "I was in awe,"Cathy said, "of what the flight nurses were capable of doing; so, I began my journey to become one."
While she was in school, she volunteered at Mamaroneck EMS to obtain the required pre-hospital experience and worked a part time job as an ER Tech at United Hospital.
In 2002, Cathy completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, and continued to amass experience working in various emergency departments and ICU environments. In 2011, she joined the HALO-Flight Team.
A fond memory for Cathy was delivering a baby in the back of an ambulance in New York and then caring for the newborn in flight shortly there after.
Thanks Cathy for all you do to improve care for our patients and South Texans. WE SALUTE YOU!
